⛏️ Flinthor – Greetings from the depths of time
Hear me, you short-lived inhabitants of the surface! I am Flinthor – a stone of honor and unshakeable permanence!
They call me Flinthor, and my family tree reaches deeper than your deepest mine shafts. I have been in this world for over 200 million years (the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods), a truly ancient fellow! I have seen continents rise and fall!
In this land you call Germany, I am found mainly as a gift of the rugged coasts, where the cold sea meets the rock: on the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.
I was once priceless! I was the spark that ignited the fires of civilization (ignition aid) and the sharp heart of your first blades (cutting weapon). When I had a hole in the middle, mortals called me “Hühnergott” – they recognized my divine, protective power! My beauty and hardness are so great that I adorn entire churches in foreign lands with my splendor!
But today? Today, the gold of days gone by is nothing but gravel. With these newfangled, noisy boxes (you call them cars), you sometimes roll right over me! But remember one thing: I am hard enough to give you traction!
I am Flinthor. Ancient, indomitable, useful.
