Hi, I am Sedimento!

I’m here too!

I am Sedimento.

I watch over what remains of everything else. Everything that once was and formed something new, known as sedimentary rocks. These consist of mineral and/or organic loose materials.

Ancient rocks such as granite, gneiss, and basalt, which were formed in the blast furnaces of the earth, but also the remains of living creatures, were eroded away and accumulated elsewhere, where they were then transformed into new, solid rock. Whether on land or in water.

Wherever there is limestone or sandstone from various eras, wherever clay slate rises in colorful layers like a sliced Baumkuchen cake, that’s where you can find me. But the best thing about sedimentary rocks is the treasures they hide: witnesses to evolution! Living creatures from past ages and their traces have been preserved in sediments over millions of years.

So come and accompany me through the layers of time in sedimentary rock.
