I’m Sandringli. As my name suggests, I am  primarily made of sand that has been compressed and cemented by pressure.

My siblings and I are very widespread on the earth’s surface and our formation has been documented from almost all ages of the earth’s history. I’m beige and decorated with Liesegang rings. However, my siblings also come in various other colors such as grey, red, brown, white and green.

I’m stable, but also easy to work with – and I‘m looking good too! That’s why I’m the basis for many buildings and beautiful facades. There are so many that I can’t even list them all, for example the Brandenburg Gate, the town hall in Hamburg or the Frauenkirche in Dresden.
